Richard Bennett, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights for Afghanistan, has condemned the continued ban on Afghan women’s access to United Nations offices and called for its immediate removal.
Bennett wrote tonight (Tuesday, March 31) on X that the ban on Afghan women working for the United Nations is an unjustifiable attack on women’s right to work and directly undermines the delivery of vital aid.
Although the Taliban had announced a ban on women working in international organizations in the winter of 1401, female UN staff had still been able to continue their work since then.
