April 2, 2026
Taliban Flog One Person in Balkh

The Taliban’s Supreme Court has announced that one person was flogged in Shortepa district of Balkh on charges of “sodomy,” in front of the public.
The court said today (Thursday, April 2) in a statement that the accused had been sentenced to two years in prison and 30 lashes, and the flogging sentence was carried out today.
In recent months, the Taliban have increased corporal punishments of the accused, and almost every day, they flog a number of citizens in different provinces in public.
Yesterday, the Taliban flogged 30 people, including one woman, in four provinces on various charges such as “illicit relations,” not fasting, and theft, in front of the public.
