The National Olympic Committee of Afghanistan, under the management of the Taliban, refused the presence of female athletes to the Asian Games.
The head of Afghanistan’s National Olympic Committee under Taliban management, on (Wednesday, the 6th of September), while rejecting the Reuters report, said that one hundred and twenty-three athletes from Afghanistan will participate in the Asian Games. But according to him, female athletes will not be including.
Reuters news agency reported in the morning (Wednesday, the 6th of September) that Afghanistan will send 17 female athletes to the Asian Games, quoting the announcement published by the National Olympic Committee.
While Ahmadullah Vasiq, the head of this committee, said that they did not publish such a declaration.
In the past two years, the Taliban did not allow women and girls to participate in sports competitions, and by their order, sports clubs also closed to women and girls.
