Afghan women are waiting for the results of the annual meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council

Nasir Andisha said at the meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council that the Taliban should not and cannot separate Afghanistan from the international system.
Nasir Andisha, who introduced by the previous government as a representative in the United Nations Human Rights Council, said in a speech at the council’s meeting today (Tuesday, 12th of September): “The increasing gender and ethnic apartheid policies of the Taliban are not only a danger to Afghanistan as a country, but also affects its neighbors.
He mentioned four million girls who have been deprived of education since the Taliban came to power. On the second day of the 54th meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, the representatives of the European Union, Iran, Pakistan, the Netherlands and the US representative in Afghanistan’s human rights affairs discussed the situation of Afghan women under the shadow of the Taliban’s single-sex policy.
The representative of the European Union said that the Taliban removed the layers that protected women’s rights by changing the legal and judicial system.
Also, the representative of Pakistan said: “The ruling body of Afghanistan is responsible for protecting and expanding the rights and freedoms of the people of Afghanistan. “We clearly stated our opposition to stopping the education and work of girls and women.”
Rina Amiri, the representative of the US in Afghanistan’s human rights affairs, also said in her speech that the US has always emphasized that there is no way to normalize relations until the Taliban respect the rights of all Afghans, especially women.
These statements are expressed while in the past two years, the Taliban continued to openly and widely violate the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan, regardless of international reactions.
