The deputy of the Women’s Department of Human Rights Watch accused world for indifference to the situation of women in Afghanistan.
She said that women’s rights in Afghanistan are not important enough for the world and their is no attention to the situation of women in Afghanistan, as it should be.
Heather Barr, the deputy of the women’s department of Human Rights Watch, openly criticized the approach of the international community in dealing with the Taliban and said: “This approach of the world to the measurable situation of Afghan women is not acceptable.”
Emphasizing that the interaction with the Taliban did not have any positive results for the people of Afghanistan, the vice president of Human Rights Watch said that unfortunately, countries in the world are still aligning and interacting with the Taliban under the pretext of fighting terrorism.
Pointing out that Afghanistan is not the priority of the international community, she added: “The continuation of these restrictions on Afghan women can have negative consequences for the rest of the world.”
Heather Barr also praised the courage and standing of Afghan women against the Taliban and said that she asked the UN special rapporteur to prioritize the investigation of the situation of Afghan women in special reports and investigations.
Heather considered documenting cases of human rights violations, especially women’s rights in Afghanistan, as a way to prosecute the perpetrators in the future.
