Sabra Akbari, one of the protesting women who is on a hunger strike in Pakistan at the same time as Tamana Zaryab Paryani, was taken to the hospital due to her worse physical health and returned home after treatment.
Tamana Zaryab Paryani and several women’s rights activists from Afghanistan and Pakistan started a hunger strike to protest against the misogynistic approach of the Taliban and to legalize gender apartheid in Afghanistan.
Sabera Akbari told Ravi Zan that she and Ruqiya Saee, another Afghan female protester, broke their hunger strike on the eighth day due to illness and entered a new step of their struggle.
Akbari added that the medical staff told her that due to the hunger strike, her heartbeat increased and she needs more medical care.
