A member of the European Parliament says that Marziya Amiri, Prasto Hakim and Motiullah Wisa, three activists in the field of education from Afghanistan, nominated for the 2023 Sakharov Prize.
Hannah Neumann, a member of the European Parliament, wrote on the X social network that the three travel to remote areas and organize secret schools and distance learning.
Miss. Neumann added that I and more than fifty other members of parliament decided to nominate three education activists for the 2023 Sakharov Prize.
The Sakharov Prize is named in honor of Andrey Sakharov, a former Soviet physicist and political dissident, and is a symbol of the European Union’s highest tribute to defenders of human rights and freedom of thought.
Neumann said that Prasto Hakim is the founder of secret schools and now organizes an organization called SAARC from exile, and Marziya Amiri also runs secret schools and online courses after fleeing Afghanistan.
According to Hannah Neumann, Matiullah Wisa, the founder of Rah_e_ Qalam Foundation, is trying to provide education to children in remote areas for years.
This is despite the fact that Matiullah Wisa was in the custody of the Taliban for some time now.
Mias. Neumann said that the Taliban imprisoned Wisa for the crime of supporting children’s education.
