The letter of Afghan schoolgirls is signed by world leaders

September 19, 2023
The letter of Afghan schoolgirls is signed by world leaders

More than a thousand female students in Afghanistan asked the international community to hear their voices and stand by them.
A thousand female students from at least 21 provinces of the country said in a letter to the leaders of the world and Islamic countries that the ban on education did not only keep them away from education; Rather, it keeps them away from society.
They asked international organizations, Islamic countries, the United Nations and its member states to firmly stand by girls and activists of girls’ right to access to education and strengthen their voices with their support.
According to them, after the ban on girls’ education above the sixth grade, suicides, underage marriages and mysterious murders of girls have increased.
This is despite the fact that in the last two years and the imposition of extensive restrictions on women and girls, especially in the field of education, international organizations and education rights activists expressed serious concerns in this issue
