The United Nations General Assembly held a meeting under the name “Fighting Gender Apartheid; The Situation of Women and Girls in Afghanistan”
This meeting was held on the sidelines of the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations to examine “gender apartheid” and issues related to women’s rights and human rights in Afghanistan.
Several senior human rights experts of the United Nations on Friday, (the 22nd of September)gender apartheid against women and girls in Afghanistan.
This organization emphasized that the situation of women in Afghanistan reflects “systematic gender apartheid”. However, the Taliban continued to torture, arrest and ban women.
In this meeting, the arrest of Neda Parwani, who was recently arrested with her four-year-old child by members of this group, was mentioned.
The United Nations said that with the return of the Taliban to power, there are deep concerns about human rights and women’s rights in this country.
The United Nations added that under the rule of the Taliban regime, women and girls in Afghanistan find themselves involved in many challenges that end in their almost complete exclusion from society.
According to the United Nations, these challenges are deep-rooted and include various aspects of women’s lives and reflect systematic “gender apartheid”.
