Sima Bahous: Afghan women are imprisoned at home and in society

The Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations said in the briefing meeting of the Security Council of this organization that the world should use all the levers of pressure to hold the Taliban accountable.
Sima Bahous, the deputy secretary general of the United Nations, who is also in charge of the executive management of women in this organization, said at the meeting of the Security Council of this organization in New York on Tuesday ( the 27th of September) that Afghan women are prisoners in society and at home.
Bahous stated: “We sometimes ignore the voices of Afghan women, and this neglect has negative effects on the future of Afghanistan.”
The Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations also expressed her concern about the limitations of women’s families in Afghanistan and added that these limitations increased in the last two years.
Without referring to the source of the announced figures, Sima Bahous said that half of Afghan women are against the recognition of the Taliban by the international community.
She claimed that 50% of Afghan women agree with them on the condition that the restrictions imposed by the Taliban on women are removed.
These statements are made in a report by the United Nations Women’s Department, headed by Miss. Bahous wrote that the world has no stronger tool than recognizing gender apartheid to protect the rights of women who are under serious threat in Afghanistan.
