UN Raises Alarm over Expulsion of Afghan Women’s Rights Activists from Pakistan: A Dire Threat to Human Rights

The United Nations has expressed deep concern over the expulsion of illegal refugees from Pakistan and the potential impact on Afghan women’s rights activists. Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesperson for the United Nations, addressed this issue during a press briefing held on Thursday, November 9, at the organization’s headquarters. He emphasized the threats faced by human rights and women’s rights activists upon their return to Afghanistan.

Dujarric stated, “The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is in contact with Pakistani authorities regarding the expulsion of Afghan migrants. We are deeply concerned about the forced expulsion events, particularly the repatriation of Afghans to Afghanistan.”

He stressed the importance of providing comprehensive support to the people of Afghanistan in light of the current circumstances.

The forced expulsion of Afghan refugees from Pakistan has sparked widespread reactions. It is estimated that approximately 1.7 million Afghans are residing in Pakistan illegally, and since the initiation of the expulsion process, around 250,000 Afghans have either voluntarily left or been forcibly expelled from the country.
