The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) says that unequal access to housing, land, and basic services has left most citizens in Afghanistan without clean water and adequate health and sanitation services.
The Afghanistan office of this organization stated today (Monday, 23 March) on X that water and health services are not only infrastructure issues, but are also related to equality, human dignity, and rights. Unequal access to housing and basic services in Afghanistan has even become a serious challenge for citizens in major cities.
The UN Human Settlements Programme expressed concern in Jadi of last year about living conditions in Kabul, stating that most residents of the city live in informal settlements without access to standard services. According to this organization, four out of every five citizens in Kabul live in informal settlements.
