Richard Lindsay, the United Kingdom’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, says that his country has provided an additional three million pounds in aid to Afghanistan.
He said this afternoon (Tuesday, March 24) that the funds will be used to supply essential food items and to support those affected by natural disasters and other economic shocks.
According to Lindsay, with this three million pounds, the total amount of the United Kingdom’s aid to Afghanistan in the current year reaches 154 million pounds, which will be spent to support the most vulnerable people.
According to concerns raised by the United Nations, Afghanistan is once again experiencing one of the most severe humanitarian crises in the world this year.
The World Food Programme has previously stated that more than 17 million citizens of Afghanistan are facing severe food insecurity, and nearly five million children and women are suffering from acute malnutrition.
