The World Health Organization says that women and children in Afghanistan are the most affected by tuberculosis, and many cases still remain undetected.
The Afghanistan office of the organization said this afternoon (Tuesday, March 24), on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, that early diagnosis of tuberculosis is crucial for its treatment.
The World Health Organization has urged families to visit health centers without delay if they have symptoms of tuberculosis.
The organization added that testing and treatment for tuberculosis are available free of charge across Afghanistan.
The World Health Organization also stated that tuberculosis is curable and that timely action can save lives.
Every year on March 24, under the title of World Tuberculosis Day, programs are held by international health organizations and countries to raise awareness about the disease and ways to combat it.
