Hamid Karzai, former president of Afghanistan, says that the ban on education and work for girls and women has weakened society and will have irreversible harms for the stability and progress of Afghanistan.
Karzai, this afternoon (Wednesday, March 25), on the occasion of the new academic year, called for the reopening of schools and universities for girls.
He also asked the Taliban to provide opportunities for women to work and actively participate in society, so that Afghanistan can move towards progress.
Karzai asked boys and girls to continue learning in any way possible.
The Taliban, in the summer of 2021, banned education above grade six for girls, and one year later, they also banned university education for girls and women and women’s work in international organizations.
