Taliban security officials in Ghazni say that a woman in the center of the province threw herself into a well to end her life.
Khalid Sarhadi, spokesperson for the Taliban police command in Ghazni, said the woman was pulled out of the well by security forces, but she died due to the severity of her condition.
The incident happened yesterday, Saturday, 8 Hamal, in Ghazni city, and officials said the reason was her attempt to escape domestic violence.
Taliban security officials in Ghazni also said that investigations are still ongoing to find the exact motive behind the incident.
Similar incidents have happened before, where women have taken their own lives to escape domestic violence.
Domestic violence and social restrictions are reported to be among the main reasons behind suicide among girls and women in Afghanistan.
